Natalie + Austin’s summer wedding in the Alberta Prairies

couple opening beers celebrating

Woo boy, did we ever have a blast at Natalie and Austin’s wedding. Their low-key, no stress day took place just outside of Calgary, Alberta, in Bragg Creek. The summer weather alone was perfect and it showcased the prairies and their smiling faces well. Their goal was to have it fun for everyone involved and for it not to be too serious. We think they accomplished just that.

The two of them along with their teams got ready all together under the same roof. It was so much fun to see them sneaking around and making sure they didn’t see too much of each other. Yet still got to experience the getting ready portion together. They got to see each other and how dedicated they were in taking care of themselves and getting all dressed up for the other person. It was one of our favourite parts of the day.

Natalie is quite the handy lady and coming from a background in textiles, she made her entire wedding dress herself. By hand. All of it. We were floored and took so many photos of her dress because we were completely obsessed. It’s not every day that you have a bride that made her own dress. It fit her like a dream and she looked absolutely breathtaking when it all came together. Austin’s reaction was priceless and he could not keep his eyes off of her. To date, we’ve never seen a groom look at his bride the same way he did with Natalie. Austin is one with words and loves making everyone around him laugh. During his vows, he really got everyone roaring with laughter with all the little stories and tidbits he told.

The two of them truly made the day easy and really wanted us to enjoy the day with them in addition to working. It didn’t feel like work one bit. They kept the decorations simple because at the end of the day all they wanted was to see everyone. The party favours themselves served as decoration as they were little potted succulents! How charming is that?! Their desserts were homemade from family recipes and had such great assortment that we really didn’t know what ones to choose! If all of that wasn’t enough, they even had all of the lawn games and people were running back and forth between there and the dance floor.

These two are going to have such long and laughter filled marriage, and we feel so delighted to be a part of their wedding and their life. Congratulations, Natalie and Austin!
