Melissa and Clint’s cozy winter wedding in Downtown Calgary

Melissa and Clint wanted to give their guests the mountain and cabin-like vibe while keeping it in Calgary. They managed just that with hosting the entire thing in the lovely local restaurant, The River Cafe. Tucked away on Prince’s Island Park, it was a winter wonderland outdoors with all the fresh snow that happened just a few days before. Indoors, it was charming, filled with greenery, candles, and had a fire going for everyone to cozy up next to. They even had homemade jam as the party favour for everyone to take home. 

Because we didn’t want to have them outside too long in the cold, we decided to go to the New Calgary Public Library location in East Village to take some more fine art and modern photos to juxtapose the more rustic interior of the River Cafe. All of the angles, cement, wood and light coming through the windows made them pop and stand out even more than they already did. They made it very easy to photograph them, and we loved looking for all the light peeking through in the various locations we shot.

One of our favourite parts of the day was when saying their vows, Melissa included their son in such a beautiful way and reminded him how thankful she is that they are officially joining their family together. Melissa and Clint are such an honourable couple, and we knew from the minute that we met them that they were in it together for life.

They reminded us that we shouldn’t get married for the party, dancing and the decorations (though, Melissa can REALLY dance). To us, it doesn’t matter if your day looks like something from Pinterest where you paid thousands of dollars for it, or if you didn’t even have flowers or a cake. Who cares? What matters is that you found your person and you want to continue writing your story together. 

Here’s to their next chapter in their novel together. Congratulations, Melissa and Clint!
