Michiko + Ricky’s flower filled summer wedding at the Blaylock Mansion

Michiko and Ricky blew us away with their wedding at the breathtaking Blaylock Mansion nestled in the mountains near Nelson, British Columbia. They had a clear vision of bringing people together and having it be filled with so many little touches that represented them and their relationship.

The two of them met at a sushi restaurant called Kinjo, and they ended up bringing the owner of Kinjo to their wedding and having a traditional sake ceremony where everyone was welcome to take some sake in their custom-made growlers. They got REALLY into smashing that barrel.

Michiko had all of her jewelry and dresses handmade by the many immensely talented women in her family. Her own dress was convertible and she wore two different headpieces throughout it. Her aunt is also a world-renowned florist and she did all of the beautiful flower work including the massive arch. We could barely believe how many special touches they had throughout the whole day.

One of our favourite moments of the day was when Ricky saw Michiko walking down the aisle for the first time and made a little peace sign at her ✌︎. They would touch each other's hands every so often. Their love was, and still is, subtle and for themselves to share with each other. They didn’t make it to this massive show on their day because all they wanted was to bring all the special people in their lives together to celebrate them and their story.

One of our favourite images ever came from their wedding day in the chaotic greenhouse. The beauty of them standing in front of the destroyed backdrop really makes them stand out. We keep an eye out for these interesting locations on your day to ensure that you have authentic photos to tell your truly personal story.

Remember on your wedding day that it’s not about the big things. It’s about the little details and what’s important to you. Not everyone has the luxury of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on their day, so choose your top two things that matter most.

Congratulations, Ricky and Michiko!
