Lucy + Will’s cozy autumn wedding in downtown Calgary

We love autumn, and when we get the opportunity to photograph a wedding that ACTUALLY has leaves in Calgary, it’s a miracle. Autumn lasts a total of 5 minutes here, and we crossed our fingers for what seemed a lifetime for the weeks leading up to Lucy and Will’s wedding. It took place at the wonderful charbar, in the historic Simmons Building in East Village. As you can tell, crossing our fingers (and toes, let’s be honest) worked, and we even managed to get some beautiful golden hour photos in the leaves.

These two are the biggest goofs you’ll ever meet. Honestly. They aren’t afraid of appearing silly and are willing to try everything at least once. They take care of each other in such a rare and beautiful way. They are so in love and it’s no surprise that you can tell by the way they look at each other in the photos we took. The look on Will’s face when Lucy was walking down the aisle was overwhelmingly adorable.

Speeches are pretty standard at weddings, and we experienced the most memorable one at their wedding. To preface, one thing you should know is that Lucy and Will have two cats named Frank and Luna that they adore. They are definite cat parents. To everyone's surprise, Lucy’s parents made sure that their kitties were included in the wedding as they obviously didn’t attend the day of. Have you ever heard of Rossini’s Cat Duet? Google it. They “sang” the entire thing together. Every meow was echoed with hysterical laughter from every person in that room, including us. It took a lot of effort to steady the camera during that time!

In all seriousness, the day was beautiful and easy for us to work as a photographer. We loved spending the day with everyone and laughing more than we thought possible. Lucy and Will, we adore you both and hope you’re enjoying married life!
