Melissa + Clint’s autumn mountain engagement session in Banff, Alberta

Minnawanka couple hug engagement

As we’ve mentioned many times prior, finding autumn in and around Calgary and Banff is nearly impossible. The leaves seem to go from green to yellow to gone in a matter of days, and it makes it difficult to figure out when to go out. Melissa and Clint were super flexible with their schedules, so thankfully we managed to find the ideal day in the mountains to photograph them!

Engagement photos to us are important, but a super casual experience. The main purpose is to ensure that your wedding day is not the first time you’re in front of a camera, as most people aren’t photographed very often. We also take this time to get to know each other better, as we know that when you’re strangers, it shows on a person’s face. You need to be comfortable with us. As much as we need to pay our bills through this business, we truly love all the couples we meet and are delighted we get the opportunity to show their story through our art.

These two made it so easy. Melissa is a playful lady and went straight for the leaves to toss in the air. That is always the goal of our photos. It’s a time for you two to be playful together and barely notice that we are there. Candid photos are our favourite and the only posing advice we give is to make sure that there are a wide variety of types of photos, and not only you standing hand in hand the whole time.

This day got us pumped to do their wedding a few months later in the winter. Autumn is our favourite, and we hope that the rest of the couples we work with enjoy it as much as we do. Who would turn down an autumn day in the mountains?
