Lucy + Will’s Mountain engagement session at Moraine Lake and the Larch Valley
Matt met Lucy many (many) years ago at a summer camp. After being contacted to photograph Lucy and Will’s, wedding, we were so unbelievably excited as they were not afraid to get their hands dirty. They wanted to be a little more adventurous and hike to the ideal location to take some fantastic engagement photos, the Larch Valley in the Valley of the Ten Peaks behind Moraine Lake.
Now, managing that in September before they close Moraine Lake for the season is no small task. It's usually very rainy and on the verge of snow around that time, so the four of us crossed our fingers and hoped we had luck on our side. The first time we showed up near Banff, we got rained out after taking a few shots. Lady luck may not have been with us that day, but the two of them were great sports about it. They really didn’t care that they ended up getting drenched for the short time we took photos at Moraine Lake as hiking was not an option that day. Will’s jeans hilariously turned his legs blue because of it #trooper.
A few weeks later we made our way back to the Rocky Mountains with the goal of creating more engagement photo magic together. And guess what? We did! They are some of our favourite images to date and we laughed so much together. The two of them are an absolute riot and we couldn't have asked for a better day. Sometimes, you need to get out of the city and do a few hours of hiking for a shoot, rain or shine. After a long day of rainy hiking, we clearly wanted to continue the fun and went for beers and barbeque in Calgary.
Our goal as photographers when we meet couples is that we can build a relationship with you beyond the photos, and we did just that with Lucy and Will. Who wouldn’t want to spend time with these two after?! Just look at them and their passion for each other.
